The Rev James Davies came in 1931 and his ministry, until 1943, was very flourishing. He left for Bethesda Merthyr. The South Wales Voice newspaper for 25th January 1936 records a meeting of the Young People's Society at Godre'rgraig Chapel:-
GODRE'RGRAIG Y.P.S. In the 28th July 1951 edition of the South Wales Voice, the induction of Rev T J Roberts as the new minister of Godrergraig Chapel includes the participation of two former ministers, one of whom is James Davies Mr Evan T Lewis welcomed Mr Roberts to Godre'rgraig and he was supported by Rev James Davies, former pastor of the church.
