Rev James Davies, Godrergraig Chapel

Another six years passed without a pastor and this was a difficult period during the industrial depression. The Rev James Davies came in 1931 and his ministry, until 1943, was very flourishing. He left for Bethesda Merthyr.


The South Wales Voice newspaper for 25th January 1936 records a meeting of the Young People's Society at Godre'rgraig Chapel:-

GODRE'RGRAIG Y.P.S.

Kast Tuesday evening the members of the above society were given a lantern lecture by the Rev E.T. Evans, B.A., Wern, on "Mari Jones a'i Beibl."
A hearty vote of thanks was extended to Mr Evans and also to Mr Kinsey of Cwmllynfell who manipulated the lantern, by Miss Edith Morgan, seconded by Councillor Joseph Thomas.
The Rev James Davies (pastor) was the chairman. The proceedings was concluded with the singing of "Dyma Feibl Annywl Iesu".


In the 28th July 1951 edition of the South Wales Voice, the induction of Rev T J Roberts as the new minister of Godrergraig Chapel includes the participation of two former ministers, one of whom is James Davies

Mr Evan T Lewis welcomed Mr Roberts to Godre'rgraig and he was supported by Rev James Davies, former pastor of the church.
