From the South Wales Voice newspaper, November 7th 1936:-

FORMER LOCAL LICENSEE
The death occurred on Wednesday after a long illness of Mr. David Llew. Williams, Brydon House, Alltygrug Road. Mr Williams was licensee of the Midland Hotel for about forty years.
The funeral takes place on Saturday at 3.30 p.m. for Alltygrug Cemetery (men only).
Deceased was 71 years of age.
Friends are asked to meet at St. David's Church at 3.30 p.m.

DEATH OF MRS M JONES,
MIDLAND HOTEL,
YSTALYFERA

After a long illness patiently borne the death occurred on Tuesday of Mrs Margaret Jones, licensee of the Midland Hotel, Ystalyfera.
She was 53 years of age. Her husband, Mr Gwilym Jones predeceased her 18 months ago and two children, Mr Sid Jones and Miss Nancy Jones are left to mourn.
The funeral is at 3pm Friday (today) for burial at Ystradgynlais Parish Churchyard and friends are asked to meet at the church.
