NEW YSTALYFERA MINISTER GETS WARM WELCOME

Rev T Arfon Jones, the new Minister of Soar Baptist Chapel Ystalyfera, was guest of honour, with his wife, at a "Te Croes" in the chapel vestry on Wednesday.
The Minister and his wife were presented with a tea set by Mrs Mary Cope-Thomas. They were then given an official welcome by Mr Wynne Samuel, who presided. He was supported by Messrs John Wadley and John Watkins, who organised the function, by Mr D Thomas, the oldest member and a deacon, Mr Elwyn Evans and Mrs Gwyn Maddocks.
All the speakers expressed the hope that Mr Jones and his wife would remain in the parish for many years. Replying, Mr Jones said he was overwhelmed by the welcome and hospitality he and his wife had already received.
The Rev and Mrs Jones were married only recently and are now living in Crud yr awel Clare Road Ystalyfera.
