KILLED IN ACTION
A fortnight ago, Mrs A E James, Ynysydarren Road received news that her nephew, Paratrooper Leslie Waite, younger son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Waite, formerly of Wade Avenue and now of Melksham, Wiltshire had been reported missing in recent operations at Arnhem, Holland. We regret to say that this week Mrs James has been notified of the sad fact that Leslie was killed in this action. Previous to the family removing to Melksham a few years ago, he was employed at the Gurnos Tinplate Works and was of a quiet and genial disposition……………

FORMER RESIDENT
The death took place at Melksham on 1st May, of Mr Arthur Waite, who left Ystalyfera nearly 20 years ago. Mr Waite, who was 72 was formerly a miner at the Diamond Colliery and lived at Ynisydarren.
His widow is a sister of Mr Ivor Thomas and Mrs James, Ynisydarren, mother of Mr Trevor James, miners agent.
There are two sons and a daughter. Another son Leslie was killed serving overseas in the last war. The cremation took place at Bristol on 3rd May.
