OBITUARY: MRS H DAVIES
The death took place on Saturday of Mrs Hannah Davies, 7 Canal Terrace. Mrs Davies, who was the widow of Mr James Davies, was 74 years of age and had been ailing for some time.
She was born and had lived all her life in the same house and furthermore had never slept a single night away from home.
She had a wonderful memory and her neighbours and acquaintances could always rely on her knowledge of local history.
Her writing of verses in Welsh was one of their hobbies and her “Pennillion” to suit all occasions was of a high standard. Mrs Davies was the last of the large family of 14 children of the late Henry and Hannah Morgan. She suffered a severe blow when her son, Glyn, serving with the Royal Corps of signals was killed in action in Tobruk in 1942.
She will be sadly missed by members of Caersalem Baptist Church to whose cause she had been devoted all her life.
The funeral took place on Thursday at St David’s Cemetery Alltygrug.
