From the Labour Voice newspaper, 26th August 1916 :-
A memorial service was held at the Cwmtwrch Mission Church on Sunday evening, in memory of Private Edward Wellstead who died in action on 10th July. The church was well attended and the service was great admired by all present. The Dead March in Saul was played on the organ by Mr Idris Williams A L C M organist also a special prayer and psalm was contributed to the service in connection with the departed. The Rev W C Wynne officiated. Much sympathy was felt amongst the congregation in the loss of Private Wellstead.
