FATAL SUNSTROKE ATTACKS AT ADEN
Latest information received shows that altogether thirteen deaths have occurred among the men of the 1st Breconshire Territorial Battalions at Aden from heat apoplexy.
The Llais Llafur of 14th August 1915 reported more specifically on Private Symonds' death:-
Among the last list of Aden casualties published during the weekend was the name of Private C E Symonds, who died of heat. Deceased was employed as an under gardener by Colonel Gough’s at Yniscedwyn before he joined the colours shortly after the outbreak of war and was very popular not only with the servants at Yniscedwyn but also in the town and many people will mourn the loss of a genial friend.
