According to an article published in the Llais March 1961, Llanguicke Public Council had been installing public seats all over the district for quite a while at its own expense and the rate at which it could do so was naturally retarded by the small expenditure it was allowed.
The article continues by saying, "This reminds one that about 25 to 30 years ago some kind people also provided public seats at their own expense in Ystalyfera. Those seats unfortunately were practically all damaged, some beyond repair by acts of vandalism by youths mostly from outside the locality and to this day, as on Glanrhyd Road, the seats have not been replaced".
I noticed a few resemblances of former seating as I wandered around Ystalyfera but the change from wood to metal may I hope give that particular seat a far longer life.
